Tim Keller with Newfrontiers at Westminster Chapel
We have recommended his books, downloaded his messages and now we have met the man. What a delightful man of God he is, full of grace and truth.
Not every American crosses the Atlantic well (that is we Brits stumble at some of their style) but we have been blessed by many now. What a joy it’s been to receive CJ Mahaney, John Wimber, John Piper, Wayne Grudem, Mark Driscoll, among others, and now Tim Keller.
His passion to communicate with our generation, win the lost and build great churches was superbly communicated to the packed Chapel. I have not seen it so full since Dr Martyn Lloyd-Jones was there (apart from the Doctor’s actual thanksgiving memorial service when I was on the top gallery – quite a scary place to be!).
We hung on his wisdom, laughed at his jokes and welcomed his insights. His emphasis on preaching Christ at all times from all of Scripture was magnificently communicated and brilliantly illustrated. He handled question and answer with great skill, insight and helpfulness.
Having dinner with him at the end of the day was a great pleasure. God has promised us that He will ‘change the expression of Christianity’ in our generation, and men like Tim Keller have a massive contribution to make to the changes that must be made in order to make our gospel and our churches relevant without yielding an inch on fundamental truth.
We in Newfrontiers are delighted to call him our friend. (No doubt Adrian Warnock will fill you in with some of the details before the day is out.)
