A five-week trip: Part 3
From India we travelled first to Doha where we thank God for increasing bonds of love and fellowship with the robust Doha Fellowship led by Rob Botha and his great international team of Elders and leaders.
They are a church characterised by warm friendliness, rich worship and missionary passion, involved not only in Doha itself but also into widespread international outreach. I have so enjoyed my three visits to this church which has been enjoying extraordinary growth, gathering about 2,000 people over the weekend. I look forward to being with them next year for their 20th anniversary together with Rory Dyer and RTKendall.
It’s a great treat to be in these highly international settings in the middle east, seeing people from such diverse cultures celebrating Jesus together.
Dubai
From Doha we travelled to our last stop at Dubai where Steve Oliver was hosting his bi-annual Hub conference. Uniquely it is prefaced by three days of prayer before the public conference kicks in, a pattern I so love!
Again, people from many nations gathered together. Steve’s unique gift of stirring and inspiring faith was preceded by a truly superb teaching from Philippians 2 by Daniel McLeod. Ray Lowe and I also enjoyed bringing our contributions & we appreciated some informative interviews.
Finally, we returned to our comparatively new home of The Kings Church, mid Sussex, the church which has made us so welcome and to which we are indebted for their kindness, prayerfulness and for receiving us so well. We are delighted to be based in the church which is in many ways where Newfrontiers began and which continues to press on in prayerful zeal and hard work.
