A missional church at prayer
Life’s so different here. Haven’t seen the M25 for weeks!
To be honest, it’s a great mixture of lots of meetings and opportunities for fellowship and prayer. I have also greatly enjoyed daily working through Mark’s gospel with the aid of James R Edwards and his superb Pillar New Testament commentary.
I feel I am seeing Jesus more clearly every day. Also, concluding the final chapters of Tim Keller’s Reason for God has been so inspiring. The last chapters are more like a heart-stirring devotional book than a book of apologetics. His grace emphasis is outstanding!
How great to argue for God’s existence and then take people right to the heart of God in the same book! Superb!
His opening up of the Trinity has provoked me to turn to Bruce Ware’s Father, Son and Holy Spirit, which I also brought with me.
Owning a big vision
Last week’s week of prayer at the church here was excellent. Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings saw good numbers turn up at the church to intercede not only for themselves and their local church programme with its evangelistic outreaches, but also for Brisbane, Perth, Melbourne and indeed many other Australian cities, and then, with our upcoming Pacific Rim leaders’ conference soon coming to town, there were fervent prayers for the nations.
How great that this comparatively recently re-planted church has such apostolic/missionary vision at its roots and in its foundation. Thanks to Peter Brooks’ outstanding leadership, the church has world mission deeply in its DNA.

What a blessing for Wendy and me to be at the ‘edges’ of our global outreach and find passion to go further being so strongly expressed by those so recently gathered.
I was also greatly encouraged to receive news of lasting healing as a result of our visit to Brisbane. God is manifestly with us.
Meanwhile, with David and Liz Holden just leaving for a month in South Africa, David Devenish and Guy Miller have just returned from a great leadership conference in India, Ray Lowe and Lee Yarbrough leaving for Fiesta in Guadalajara in Mexico, where 1,000 are anticipated.
Hey, we are a family together on world mission.
